South Florida will take the field against Rutgers in a game that will have huge implications for the Big East title race.

The early point spreads for Big East football games in week three are beginning to be posted. According to BetOnline.ag, here are some of the lines for what will be a very important week for several Big East teams.

  • Rutgers (+8.5) at South Florida - The biggest conference game of the young season and South Florida opens as a touchdown favorite at home. Rutgers hasn't shown a heck of a lot on offense so far this year. South Florida has. BJ Daniels throwing the ball against that aggressive Rutgers will likely decide which team gets a big jump on the Big East race.
  • Connecticut (-3) at Maryland - I can see making Connecticut the favorite because of how well its defense has played against UMass and N.C. State. But, until the Huskies show their offensive line can move some people and run the ball, I'd stay away.
  • Virginia Tech (-13) at Pittsburgh - Honestly thought this number would be higher, and I expect it to grow. Pittsburgh has defensive issues, enormous defensive issues. Especially up front. That's bad news for this week as Virginia Tech will certainly test them by running big Logan Thomas over and over.
  • North Carolina (+4) at Louisville - I'm somewhat surprised the number isn't closer to Louisville -7, mostly because they're the home team and there are questions about both Bryn Renner and Giovani Bernard for North Carolina. Not to mention, the Tarheels are coming off of a loss to Wake Forest.
