Hey Big East! Did we ever get any other schools to join the conference?

I mean, it was just last week when Boise State was going to say "yes" and the Service Academies were going to sign up, and Houston was on board, and UCF was next in line, and Temple was going to save us, and. BYU was going to listen to an offer, and...

....Wait did any of that happen?

Are we just sticking our collective heads in the sand or any of this really going to happen?

Air Force having cold feet

has put everything on indefinite hold, as usual. The league has had conversations with BYU as a replacement and San Diego State is begging the Big East or anybody else to let them in. This is all we know for now.

Other than the AQ bid and (possibly) more money

The best selling point might be “exposure to eastern markets” … which presumably means they’d be seen more by a lot of the east coast media personalities.

Guessing you're just worried

that USF won’t be in an AQ conference anymore. Which will likely happen even if the Big East doesn’t implode right away.

No way a TV partner wants to be locked into the Best Big East school in a BCS game every year.

While I agree he sometimes can be a troll...

…and let’s face it Vinnie, we don’t often agree.

However, aside from the fact that he is an ACC fan and posting here, he’s got a point. With the changing BCS landscape nothing is certain anymore. If the BCS really does move to a #1-#2 only matchup and leave the other bowls to make their own affiliations, then it doesn’t bode well for the Big East. If the Big East doesn’t have an AQ bid, then what would make a more western school such as BSU, BYU, SDSU, etc join an eastern league when the Big East doesn’t currently have a better bowl lineup than MWC or CUSA, and isn’t like to do any better?

It looks like everything is about to change for everyone after next season.
