Seton Hall will be taking on the Virginia Commonwealth Rams according to the report, while the Florida Gators battle the Cincinnati Bearcats. Per the report from Rothstein, the games will take place on December 9, 2017 at Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey once again.
VCU will be looking a lot different next year than they have recently. JeQuan Lewis, Ahmed Hamdy, Mo Alie-Cox, Doug Brooks and Jordan Burgess all graduated this past year with most, if not all of them having made an impact in their years in Richmond. Additionally, Samir Doughty announced recently that he would transfer, meaning that Justin Tillman and Jonathan Williams are the lone veterans on a team that will be littered with youth and a new head coach. Will Wade departed from VCU in the offseason to take the LSU Tigers head coaching job, so the Rams will now be under the direction of Mike Rhoades.
Last year’s inaugural edition of the event, which was designed to partner up with the Families of Freedom Scholarship Fund, featured the Villanova Wildcats, who defeated the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. The Penn State Nittany Lions and Pittsburgh Panthers also partook in the event.
