The Creighton Bluejays and Marquette Golden Eagles were the No. 5 and the No. 14th best in attendance averages during the 2013-14 season according to a press release issued by the NCAA.
The Sporting News also reported that former Big East powerhouse Syracuse led the nation in average attendance last year. Orange fans packed the Carrier Dome at a clip of 26,243 for 18 home games, including their spectacular showing of 35,446 on Feb. 1, 2014 for their memorable clash with the Duke Blue Devils.
Rupp Arena, the home of the Kentucky Wildcats finished second with an average of 22,964. Finishing out the Top 5 were Louisville, North Carolina, and finally Creighton whose arena resembles that of an NBA-style venue. So in that regard, it's no surprise that the rowdy Bluejay fans in Omaha were able to pack CenturyLink Center Omaha to the gills this season to see Doug McDermott's final hurrah in the state of Nebraska.
