Class of 2016 recruit Joe Hampton, a 6-foot-6 power forward, went on an unofficial visit to Villanova on Tuesday. Hampton, who is considered one of the best big men in the DMV area, possesses a powerful game for someone with his size and in his class.
Hampton, from my discussion with him, had nothing but good things to say. He is expected to gain even more interest as the summer rolls along with the amount that he has going on. He was supposed to take a visit to Georgetown, but since he is going to NBAPA Top 100 Camp in Charlottesville, Va., that was unfortunately canceled.
"I loved the campus. It's not small at all and the visit was good," Hampton told Big East Coast Bias. "I met the players and coaching staff. What was interesting is Villanova is all about basketball, and the alumni puts all their money into the basketball program."
I personally do expect an offer from Villanova to come soon. As for Hampton, he should continue to grow as a player because he is only about to enter his junior season in high school.
With two more years under his belt, Hampton may be able to grow even more in height, and in his skill set. His name is just getting onto the national scene and the events Hampton is going to will allow him to showcase his talent.
We will have coverage of the NBPA Top 100 Camp this week, so be on the lookout for some more reports from Charlottesville.
