Final Score: Georgetown 71, DePaul 59

Mike DiNovo-USA TODAY Sports

Poor second half shooting dooms the Blue Demons as they drop another one at home to Georgetown.

DePaul led for the first 25 minutes of the game, but poor shooting in the second half led to their demise as Georgetown sweeps the season series on the road with a 71-59 win.

The Blue Demons were just unable to stop Hoyas guard Markel Starks, who put up 26 points to improve Georgetown's record to 13-9, 4-6 in the BIG EAST.

Billy Garrett Jr. returned after missing the past two games with an illness, scored 12 points to go along with Brandon Young's team-high 15. Freshman R.J. Curington scored in double figures for the 3rd straight game, adding 10 points. Charles McKinney came off the bench with four points, but Cleveland Melvin missed his third straight game due to suspension.

DePaul (10-13, 2-8 BIG EAST) stormed to a 11-4 lead in the opening moments of the game, playing stifling defense that forced 12 missed shots for Georgetown. The Blue Demons led by as much as nine after a three by Curington to make it 24-15. The Hoyas wouldn't quit, ending the half on a 12-6 run to cut the deficit to three.

The wheels came off for DePaul in the 2nd half, as they missed five of their first 20 shots and connected on just 32% of their attempts. Georgetown got their first lead of the game thanks to a Aaron Bowen three-pointer five minutes into the 2nd. They never looked back, pushing their lead to 14 with a Starks triple during a 21-7 run that lasted over seven minutes. Hoyas guard D`Vauntes Smith-Rivera dropped 17 points while forward Jabril Traywick contributed 15 points and forward Nate Lubick tied a season-high with 10 rebounds.
