For the second straight game, Xavier's big men dominated, this time leading Xavier to a 15 point win over Wake Forest in the final game of their non-conference schedule. Matt Stainbrook led the Musketeers with 21 points and 10 rebounds while James Farr contributed 13 points off the bench. Xavier out-rebounded the Demon Deacons 50-34, including 17 offensive rebounds against a Wake team that entered the contest ranked 14th in the country in defensive rebounding %.
The win gave Xavier coach Chris Mack the 100th of his career, and marks the Musketeers' best 13 game start under their current head coach. In this contest, the home team used a 20-3 run in the last 9:30 of the first half, holding Wake Forest without a field goal. Xavier never looked back, extending the lead to 22 points in the second half. The Musketeers kick off Big East play with the first of five Big East games, hosting St. John's on New Year's Eve at Noon ET.
