Rutgers-Cincinnati: Rutgers barely misses a double-pass, gets picked in the end zone

Stay connected for news and updates

They always say football is a game of inches. Here's another reminder of just how true that is. Rutgers had the ball deep in Cincinnati territory and had a chance to take a 14-0 lead. The Scarlet Knights drew up a beautiful double-pass that was just to long for Savon Huggins to come down with. If he had, he'd have scored.

Instead, after missing on the double-pass, Rutgers quarterback Gary Nova threw (another) ill-advised pass into the end zone with two defenders close by and Cincinnati's Dominique Battle picked it off after it was tipped. This game has featured a ton of offense but few points and Rutgers leads heading into the locker room 7-0.
