We take a break from our normal coverage of football and basketball here at BECB to bring you coverage of that other kind of football, soccer. I write about the Los Angeles Galaxy over at Yahoo! and do some MLS coverage for the East regional sites here at SB Nation. So I couldn't help but pay attention to the 2012 MLS SuperDraft today. What I saw was that the Big East dominated the draft.
Here are all the Big East selections (13 of the total 38 picks, 34.2%):
First Round
No. 7 Nick DeLeon (Louisville Cardinals), D.C. United
No. 8 Andrew Jean-Baptiste (Connecticut Huskies), Portland Timbers
No. 9 Austin Berry (Louisville), Chicago Fire
No. 12 Aaron Maund (Notre Dame Fighting Irish), Toronto FC
No. 14 Tony Cascio (Connecticut), Colorado Rapids
No. 16 Dom Dwyer (South Florida Bulls), Sporting Kansas City
No. 18 Colin Rolfe (Louisville), Houston Dynamo
Second Round
No. 20 Calum Mallace (Marquette Golden Eagles), Montreal Impact
No. 26 Aubrey Perry (South Florida), Columbus Crew
No. 27 Brendan King (Notre Dame), Portland Timbers
No. 33 Chris Blais (South Florida), San Jose Earthquakes
No. 35 Raymon Gaddis (West Virginia Mountaineers), Philadelphia Union
No. 38 Kenney Walker (Louisville), LA Galaxy
Looking at the future Big East teams: UCF also had two selections and SMU had one selection.
