There's at least one Big East team ranked in the mostly meaningless preseason AP Top 25 poll that was released this morning. West Virginia checked into the poll at #24. Here is the complete poll.

A couple of quick notes:
- Pittsburgh received nine votes. They were the only other team to receive votes from the Big East.
- The SEC has eight teams ranked in the initial poll, but is unlikely to finish with more than five.
- Virginia Tech is not scheduled to face a single team in the preseason rankings.
- Auburn faces all seven of the other ranked SEC teams.
- I tweeted it, but, I believe in the preseason 2012 poll, the Big East will have four teams ranked. If I had to pick those four teams, I'd say they'll be TCU, West Virginia, Pitt, and either South Florida or Louisville.
- I also believe that West Virginia, Pitt, and South Florida will finish the season ranked.
