2011 Biletnikoff Award Watch List Features Six* Big East Receivers

Photo

The second award watch list of the day was released today. This time it's the Biletnikoff Award, given annually to honor the nation's top wide receiver. The list features five Big East wide receivers.

My initial reaction to this watch list is twofold. First, what in the world does it take for Mohamed Sanu to get some recognition for being the only offensive weapon Rutgers had in 2010? And then to add Mark Harrison instead of Sanu? Second, Michael Smith is academically ineligible to play in 2011. What in the hell were people looking at when they nominated players? Smith's ineligibility has been known since June 2. There's no excuse for that oversight.

Below is the entire list, thank you to Kevin McGuire from No Two Minute Warning for the full list.

Like the recognition for Shanahan

But I don’t think he’ll be Pitt’s #1 receiver next season. Watch out for Devin Street. He’s pretty quick and improved in spring camp. Cuse fans may remember him from last year’s game when he went 79 yards for a touchdown on Pitt’s first offensive possession.

I Agree

Street seem like the guy who will put up the bigger numbers in that offense. It’ll be nice to see Pitt actually use its offensive talent this year.

What?

Pitt actually using it’s talent to its advantage? Blasphemy!

Haha

Used to irritate the living hell out of me to see Pitt have four guys on offense drafted every year after averaging 16 points per game.

You and every Pitt fan

All thanks to this guy

I try to forget that game

but like you I like the fact that Van Chew got some recognition here (he’s my favorite player), but I don’t think he’ll be SU’s top receiver. I think that honor will go to Marcus Sales.

Fun fact!

Michael Smith is academically ineligible for 2011.
