The second award watch list of the day was released today. This time it's the Biletnikoff Award, given annually to honor the nation's top wide receiver. The list features five Big East wide receivers.
- Tavon Austin - West Virginia
- Van Chew - Syracuse
- Mark Harrison - Rutgers
- Mike Shanahan - Pittsburgh
- DJ Woods - Cincinnati
- Michael Smith - Connecticut*
My initial reaction to this watch list is twofold. First, what in the world does it take for Mohamed Sanu to get some recognition for being the only offensive weapon Rutgers had in 2010? And then to add Mark Harrison instead of Sanu? Second, Michael Smith is academically ineligible to play in 2011. What in the hell were people looking at when they nominated players? Smith's ineligibility has been known since June 2. There's no excuse for that oversight.
Below is the entire list, thank you to Kevin McGuire from No Two Minute Warning for the full list.
