Big East Basketball Wrap-Up: Louisville And DePaul Win, Rutgers Falls To Princeton

The Big East was 2-1 in hoops on Dec. 7. The No. 4 Louisville Cardinals and the DePaul Blue Demons were victorious while the Rutgers Scarlet Knights couldn't complete a second half comeback against Princeton.

Louisville 90, IUPUI 60: The Cardinals' Chris Smith reached 1,000 points in his Louisville career in the win last night. He finished with 19 points. Gorgui Dieng had a double double for Louisville with 18 points and 12 rebounds. Russ Smith and Kyle Kuric also reached double figures for the Cards. For more on Louisville, visit Card Chronicle.

DePaul 69, Loyola (IL) 58: Loyola had a monster second half behind Walt Gibler's game-high 29 points but the Ramblers couldn't make up the deficit against DePaul after only scoring 17 points in the first half. Moses Morgan scored 13 points in 13 minutes to lead DePaul. Jamee Crockett, Krys Faber and Jeremiah Kelly also reached double figures in scoring for the Blue Demons. Princeton 59, Rutgers 57: Ian Hummer paced the Tigers with 21 points. Princeton held off a furious rally by the Scarlet Knights in the second half for the win. Eli Carter led the way for Rutgers with 17 points. Myles Mack chipped in 11 points. Rutgers was plagued by 18 turnovers. For more on Rutgers, visit On The Banks.

There are four Big East basketball games tonight: No. 9 UConn hosts No. 24 Harvard (7 p.m., ESPN2); Notre Dame hosts Maine (7 p.m., ESPN3); Providence hosts Boston College (7 p.m., ESPN3); West Virginia travels to Kansas State (9 p.m., ESPN2).
